Health and Safety

Health and Safety

Health and Safety is a core value at Lennox Farm.  From the safety of our family, employees and customers, to the safety of our soil, produce, and products, we are committed to taking care of each other and the food that feeds us.  Our farm is annually Canada GAP Certified, as we promote Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and maintain effective food safety procedures.  We follow strict safety protocols and guidelines from the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health, and advice from the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health Unit.  We are constantly updating our skills and understanding about safety on the farm and how to improve it (e.g., training, inspections, water/soil samples).

Current Covid-19 Safety Policies and Procedures

As the Covid-19 situation continues to evolve, so do our safety measures.  Currently we are implementing a number of new policies and procedures in recommendation with our local health unit (WDG Public Health) to enhance the health and safety as well as limit the transmission of disease.  These include:

  • Training
  • Health Screening of employees prior to the start of each shift
  • Self assessment of all visitors and customers – signage posted at entrance, take the Self-Assessment: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/screening/customer/
  • Increased Cleaning of high touch surfaces
  • Physical Distancing Measures (e.g., limiting the number of customers, directional markers and tape, plexiglass shields)
  • Hand washing stations and hand sanitizer available for staff and customer hand hygiene before entering the market
  • Mandatory Face Coverings (both inside the building and outside under the Market tent)
  • Sanitizing baskets before returning to clean areas
  • Offering contactless service – curbside pick-up
  • Removing communal eating areas (i.e. picnic tables currently not available)
